A Canadian couple pulled off a spud-tacular wedding with the help of a special guest—an 8-foot-tall potato named Tate the Tater.
Tate the Tater, the industry mascot for the Prince Edward Island Potato Board, attended his first wedding at the request of the bride and groom, Amy and Matthew Ramsay, both 27. The couple lives in Prince Edward Island and were married on a potato farm owned by the Potato Board on Aug. 27.
Matthew Ramsay, a potato farmer, told the CBC he thought it “would just be fitting if Tate made an appearance.” He said Amy Ramsay thought it would be good entertainment for the kids in attendance.
“It would take the lull out of the reception when people are trying to eat and there wasn’t any speeches going on,” he said. “She thought it’d be a great idea.”
The couple was right—Tate proved a hit at the wedding, and posed in several photos with guests.
