DENVER — Brady Quinn says his severely sprained left foot is no longer an issue. Quinn was asked about his foot Thursday during his first news conference in Denver since his acquisition Sunday from the Cleveland Browns, and said: “The foot is good, I appreciate you asking.” Quinn passed his physical Tuesday, completing the deal that sent fullback Peyton Hillis and two draft picks to the Browns for the former first-rounder who starred at Notre Dame.

DENVER — A federal judge in Denver ruled that a suspected Mexican drug lord accused of helping smuggle millions of dollars worth of cocaine into the United States should be held without bail until his case is resolved. Oscar Arriola Marquez has pleaded not guilty to charges that include money laundering and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.

Unemployment in metropolitan Chicago jumped to 11.6% in January, the highest in almost 27 years. The seasonally unadjusted jobless rate for January rose from 10.6% during the prior month in the Chicago-Naperville-Joliet area, according to figures released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Prosecutors say the gunman who fatally shot a couple and their son in their Darien home Tuesday was hired to commit the crime. Jacob Nodarse, the first suspect in the case, was arrested and reportedly confessed to the murders in Florida. But now, police have also arrested Johnny Borizov, who they believe hired Nodarse to commit the murders
