‘Scandal,’ indeed! D.C. drama used fake backdrops of Washington

Friday, April 6th, 2012

No worries, Kerry Washington fans, you did not miss a chance to meet the actress when she was filming her new ABC series based on the life of D.C. crisis-management ninja Judy Smith — because “Scandal” did not film here in D.C. Those scenes from Thursday night’s episode where Washington conducted tense, fast-talking conversations in front of the White House and Jefferson Memorial? Fake backdrops , it seems. NBC’s “The Firm” brought its cameras and stars here for some real on-location shooting last fall — but the show was quickly canceled. We’ll see if HBO’s forthcoming “Veep,” which spent a day or so filming in D.C. (but more of its time in Baltimore), fares better. Read full article > >
