With Twilight winding down, folks have been buzzing about which big role Kristen Stewart will take on next. She’s already being courted for a couple interesting roles, though the girl is a big fan of independent cinema and we wouldn’t be surprised if she ultimately ends up taking on parts in much smaller films. Still, though, it’s fun to imagine her taking on a few of our favorite iconic characters, and the past week has brought news of two specific parts the actress has been considering. First up is a chance to play Snow White in a new live-action version of the classic fairytale called Snow White and the Huntsman. Additionally, there’s word that Zack Snyder wants to try Stewart out for the role of Lois Lane in his upcoming Superman movie.

It’s one of the softer weekends of the year, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing out there worth watching. While most people will catch up on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Disney’s Tangled, there’s a couple smaller, lesser-known films hitting the multiplexes. Let’s take a look … Black Swan What’s The Scoop: Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler) returns to screens with this buzzed-about psychological horror film about a ballerina (Natalie Portman) suffering through personal and professional problems while she readies for a performance in a big ballet. This weekend sees Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan land in theaters with a whole lot of Oscar buzz surrounding it. The film, which stars Natalie Portman as a ballerina suffering through personal and professional problems as she prepares for a very big performance, has been hailed as one of the best (and craziest) of the year, with Portman looking to be a clear frontrunner for multiple Best Actress nominations throughout awards season. Will the role be enough to snag her an Oscar? We’ll have to wait awhile to find that out, but in the meantime we thought it might be fun to look back over Portman’s career and ask you which five roles of hers are your favorite. Here, I’ll go first … 1.

It’s almost December, which means it’s time to get ready for a whole bunch of awards shows leading up to the biggie – the Academy Awards – at the end of February. The Independent Spirit Awards were the first ones out of the gate with nominations, announcing them earlier today. Now, the Spirit Awards are different from, say, the Oscars or the Golden Globes in that the films nominated have to have been produced for under $20 million. Still a lot of money, sure, but definitely on the smaller end of movie budgets. This year’s big contender looks to be Winter’s Bone, which won the Grand Jury at Sundance last year, and it leads the pack here with seven nominations, including Best Feature. Black Swan also snagged four nominations, and the Best Actress category was so packed with… Read More Read Comments
