Just after the first anniversary of the onset of the Arab Spring, the Obama administration announced in December an enormous arms sale to Saudi Arabia , with a price tag greater than the annual gross domestic product of more than half the countries in the world. New Hampshire sets primary date

New Hampshire’s secretary of state announced on Wednesday that Jan.10, 2012 would be the date of the Granite State’s primary. For a time, the date was the subject of much speculation after Nevada tried to advance its caucuses, which are now set for Feb.4. But with Wednesday’s announcement, the primary calendear is all-but set. New Hampshire’s primary will come a week after the first-in-the-nation nominating contests on Iowa caucuses on Jan. 3. The first few times the man with the raspy voice called the D.C. police homicide branch looking for Sgt. Michael Farish, he was out. The man left messages indicating that Farish should call him back, but left no number. Then, a few weeks after the first call, the man caught Farish at his desk. He wanted to talk about Dana Vonde Chisholm, 25, who had been found strangled in her basement apartment near Rock Creek Park. “He said I knew why she was dead — because of her lifestyle,” Farish recalled.
