O’Brien, the archbishop of Baltimore, who pleaded with the governor to change his mind. “Maryland is not New York,” O’Brien wrote . He urged O’Malley not to allow his position on “the definition of marriage to be determined by mere political expediency.” O’Brien is correct: Maryland is not New York, where Gov.
