Washington has never been known as a pizza town. Unlike New York, Chicago or New Haven (or even Detroit, Trenton or St. Louis), D.C. doesn’t have a pizza style of its own — and no, jumbo slice doesn’t count. The city’s homegrown pizza parlors hadn’t exactly put it on the map over the years. But during the past decade — 2 Amy’s started the trend in 2001 — the landscape has changed, as a flood of Neapolitan and boutique pizza-makers raised the bar for Capital City pizza. HARRISBURG, Pa. — Gov. Tom Corbett launched a state takeover of the troubled capital city on Monday by declaring a fiscal emergency there. Corbett, a Republican, made the declaration four days after he signed a law that grants him the ability to take unprecedented control over much of Harrisburg’s finances, including the ability to use the city’s money to ensure that government continues to operate services, issue paychecks to employees and make pension and debt payments.
