The Washington Redskins announced that they have placed tight end Chris Cooley on the season-ending injured reserve list as the eight-year pro heals from finger and knee injuries. The Redskins’ losses in the locker room are outpacing their woes in the standings, as two more key offensive contributors joined their growing list of injured players Monday. Coach Mike Shanahan said that running back Tim Hightower tore the ACL in his left knee in Sunday’s 33-20 loss at Carolina and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve. CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mike Shanahan’s switch from Rex Grossman to John Beck as starting quarterback couldn’t ignite the Washington Redskins, who suffered another series of critical injuries to their starters Sunday as they lost, 33-20, to the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. A week after Grossman got the hook during a loss to the struggling Philadelphia Eagles, Beck took over — making his first start since December of 2007 — but he and his increasingly battered team were defeated by a one-win team for a second consecutive week.
