We’ve done a pretty good job of avoiding ChatRoulette talk here. But this is worth breaking our unofficial ban: Jon Stewart’s take on the voyeur site — and, of course, the media’s obsession about it. (Which, by the way, is a good time to point out that the media loves stories like ChatRoulette, because they require nothing more than visiting a Web site.

Jon Stewart skewered Obama’s national security critics last night for dismissing the terror attacks that happened under Bush while coming down on the current president for his defense record. Both Rudy Giuliani and Dana Perino have recently stated that there were no domestic terror attacks under Bush, omitting not only 9/11, but the anthrax attacks and the attempted shoe bomber attack .

PARIS — The news snapshot shows Roman Polanski standing at a window, a thin slice of his face visible amid an opening in the curtains. The French paper that printed the photo saw it as a newsworthy depiction of the director’s life under house arrest in his Swiss Alpine chalet

Jon Stewart returned last night after a week off, annoyed that the “news fairy” screwed him. There was no Palin resignation, no Larry Craig scandal, only Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the reality star wannabes who crashed the White House state dinner and posted the evidence on Facebook

How are New Yorkers reacting to the recent release of Sarah Palin’s new book, “Going Rogue”? Last night on “The Daily Show,” John Oliver went to New York bookstores to find out, only to find that most fans had dressed up as the villains in the book, and that New York kids would rather jump into a volcano than read “Going Rogue.” WATCH: The Daily Show With Jon Stewart Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c

The 2009 elections that have been dominating cable news coverage of late consisted of two governor races and two congressional seats. Of course, every race is important and deserves coverage but the hyperbole which reporters, anchors and pundits have employed claiming these races are referendums on the president and his policies, and predictors of the 2008, 2010 and 2012 elections caused Jon Stewart to take exception. He focused specifically on New York’s 23rd District race in which Republican nominee Dede Scozzafava was undermined by her own party mostly because she supports gay marriage, abortion rights and has a close relationships with leading labor officials.

Jon Stewart began his show last night by skewering CNN for fact checking a “Saturday Night Live” skit in which Fred Armisen (playing Barack Obama) claimed to have done “nothing” since taking office. In this hard hitting report, CNN found that while many of the president’s initiatives have not moved forward, he has in fact done “something” since taking office.

(AP) LOS ANGELES — Jon Stewart and his writing staff are owners of new Emmy Awards. Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” was named the best comedy or variety show in the annual Emmy Awards. Blessed with an abundance of material during a presidential election, the show beat out David Letterman’s “Late Show,” “Saturday Night Live,” “Real Time With Bill Maher” and “The Colbert (col-BEAR’) Report (rap-PORE’)” Stewart’s writing staff also won for best writing in a comedy or variety series, making it a clean sweep.

Danny Ledonne rarely misses “The Daily Show.” He’s a frequent viewer of its cable TV cousin, “The Colbert Report,” too. And for additional political satire and commentary, he often checks out HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher.” The thing is, Ledonne doesn’t own a television. He hasn’t had one since he was in college more than eight years ago.

Former Georgia Rep. Bob Barr said Saturday it’s hard to “overestimate the damage” that’s been inflicted on the Republican Party — not only with this week’s defection of Sen. Arlen Specter, but also the “lack of any coherent philosophy, vision or leadership.” “The Republican Party is in very deep trouble right now,” Barr said in an interview with CNN.
