Bomb explosion outside New Delhi court building leaves 9 dead, 47 wounded

NEW DELHI — A powerful bomb left in a briefcase rocked the city high court complex Wednesday morning killing nine people and injuring at least 47, police said. The blast occurred during the morning rush hour, shortly after 10 a.m, between Gates 4 and 5 of the Delhi High Court through which visitors, lawyers, litigants and journalists enter and get their security passes made. Police immediately cordoned off the area as security commandos and bomb disposal squads went in to check for more bombs. Television images showed panic and mayhem just a few minutes after the blast, with people carrying bodies and hundreds of files splattered all over the ground.
