One of the major topics that maybe the media has failed to address is the sad Yuletide tale of a four year-old boy from Tennessee who drank some beer, put on a dress, and went around stealing his neighbors’ Christmas presents . Well, that changed Wednesday, as Air America’s Megan Carpentier debuted a new show: ” No, No, Don’t Say That .” Megan was kind enough to invite former Jezebel editor Moe Tkacik and me to contribute to the discussion, and I think we more or less hit all the key issues: door condoms, the comment sessions of Chattanooga-area television news websites, incarcerated parents, and my lingering concern that the child might be related, in some way, to awesome alt-country troubadour Ryan Adams, whose ” Drunk Santa ” is a Christmastime staple at my household (no matter what my wife says.) The New York Times began its latest round of layoffs Wednesday, as too few employees accepted voluntary buyouts. The New York Post’s Keith Kelly reported Wednesday morning that 26 staffers would be laid off, since only 74 employees accepted buyout offers and the target was to cut 100 positions.

In case you missed it, there was an unfortunate bit of barely-audible editorializing as MSNBC switched from their on-air discussion of the forthcoming rebuttal from Bobby Jindal to the rebuttal itself. Listen closely as Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann leave off their discussion as Jindal comes into view of the camera. Someone with a live mike is overheard audibly expressing their disbelief with a sardonic, “Oh, God.” And honestly, it would be about fifteen whole seconds before that reaction was really appropriate.
