Helicopter crashes in East River, one reported dead

This post has been updated. A helicopter with five people aboard crashed into the East River near 34th Street Tuesday afternoon, sinking to the bottom of the river within minutes. It was taking off from the East 34th Street Heliport when it crashed. The pilot and three people have been pulled out of the water by rescuers, and two people have been taken to the hospital in serious condition. The final passenger, a woman, was pronounced dead on the scene, the New York Times City Blog reports . Read full article > >
