The MTV Movie Awards does not function as a couture fashion show in the same way other trophy ceremonies do . At this decidedly less serious event, the skirts are shorter, the attitude is looser and the overall vibe is much less formal. Still, the celebs do walk a red carpet. And when photographs are taken on a red carpet, fashion assessments must be made. With that in mind, here are some of the fashion superlatives from this year’s MTV Movie Awards, as determined by me, someone who came to work today wearing a button-down over an E.T. T-shirt. So, you know, clearly an expert. Read full article > >

The label Rag & Bone is known for its edgy urbanity and growing hipster following, so many in the fashion world might be slightly puzzled that Marcus Wainwright and David Neville have decided to open their first store outside of New York in the preppy enclave of Georgetown this week. But the designers, long-time friends who met in their teens in their home country of England, say that the “multi-cultural and collegiate” feel of Georgetown is perfect for them. Neville, known by many celeb-gawkers for his pre-Jude Law romance with the actress Sienna Miller, told a group of journalists and fashion insiders Monday night that he and Wainwright are looking beyond the typical “New York-Los Angeles model” in terms of the strategic placement of their stores. From Gaga to Gober, an exhibit delves into the intersections of art and fashion Lady Gaga may be the most obvious example to date of someone blurring the borders between art and fashion, but lending intellectual clout to the concept, ” Between Skin and Clothing ” at Germany’s Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg demonstrates how this connection has been continuously evolving since the 1960s. Curated by journalist and fashion doyenne Jos
