The BBC said the group consisted of Iranian documentary filmmakers, adding that while the BBC’s Farsi-language service had bought the rights to their films in the past, it had not commissioned their work. Your Five: Most Anticipated Films of 2011

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

I started this post off as a “The Five,” with intentions of predicting what the five most anticipated films of 2011 were. But then I thought, um, no. It’s not about that. It’s more about which films I’m personally looking forward to — and which ones you’re personally looking forward to — then some imaginary list based off very early buzz. Elijah Wood Returning for ‘The Hobbit’

Friday, January 7th, 2011

As Peter Jackson begins to assemble his troops for two more Lord of the Rings films – this time based on the prequel book The Hobbit – all everyone seems to be concerned with is which cast members from the first three films will return for these two. TheOneRing.net claims they can confirm that Wood will indeed play a role in the films, but not a major part like in the original trilogy. Here’s how they explain it: “As readers of “The Hobbit” know, the tale of “The Downfall of The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit or There and Back Again,” are… Read More Read Comments

James Franco and Anne Hathaway to Host Academy Awards

Monday, November 29th, 2010

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to return to the two-host format for next year’s Academy Awards (which will reward the films from this year even though it’s technically airing on television next year) by announcing that James Franco and Anne Hathaway will lead the next Oscar ceremony, due to hit ABC on February 27th, 2011. Obviously this pairing was meant to appeal to a younger audience, but it’s also a strange move for the Academy considering both Franco and Hathaway could wind up as Oscar nominees themselves. Franco is certainly one of the frontrunners for Best Actor after his fantastic performance in 127 Hours, while Hathaway has been earning raves for her turn in the newly-released romantic dramedy Love and Other Drugs. If both end up nominated, wouldn’t… Read More Read Comments
