First Official Photos from the Set of ‘The Hobbit’ After tracking this project for years, we’re happy to finally let you all know that The Hobbit has officially started production. Shouts! Cheers! High-fives! And in honor of the epic two-parter directed by Peter Jackson (who’s the man responsible for the previous Lord of the Rings trilogy), they’ve released two set photos to Facebook. Both show Jackson hanging out in that all-too-familiar Hobbit house, which should feel comforting for those itching for more Lord of the Rings action. Check out both photos and let us know what you think. The Hobbit, Part 1 is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 19th, 2012.

We were going to stick this image in with the others, but we felt you might want it to have its own little home since this does mark the first big starring role for Taylor Lautner outside of the Twilight universe. Most of you should remember that Lautner is prepping a slew of films in advance of the final two Twilight movies (Breaking Dawn, Parts 1 and 2), the first of which is due out later this year on September 23rd. It’s called Abduction, and you can check out the first official image from the film in this post. In the film, Lautner will play a dude who is forced to unravel the mystery of his life after discovering his baby photo on a missing persons ad. Obviously, with a title like Abduction, we can imagine the sort of sinister stuff taking place here.
