A fast-moving wildfire more than doubled in size on Monday and has burned through 164 square miles in Southern California since it started. Katie Callaway Hall trembled for four hours when she heard Phillip Garrido was arrested last week for allegedly kidnapping young Jaycee Dugard and holding her for 18 years. Hall has thought about Garrido every day since November 22, 1976, when he asked her for a ride at a supermarket before taking her to a mini-warehouse and raping her.

A Florida man already jailed on charges of hacking into major retail computer networks has been indicted a third time for allegedly stealing data on a record number of credit and debit cards. Albert Gonzalez, 28, of Miami, Florida, is accused of stealing data involving more than 130 million credit cards.
