LIMA, Peru — Peru’s government abused its authority by barring paroled U.S. activist Lori Berenson and her 31-month-old son from leaving the country to spend the holidays in New York City with her family, her lawyer charged Saturday. “Administratively, you can’t block a court order,” Anibal Apari said after Berenson told The Associated Press that she and her son Salvador were prevented from boarding a flight Friday night despite being granted permission in court. MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota businessman Kenneth Dahlberg, a World War II ace and an inadvertent figure in the Watergate scandal that brought down Richard Nixon’s presidency, has died at age 94, his lawyer said Wednesday. Dahlberg died Tuesday at his Deephaven home of natural causes, Dahlberg attorney and family friend Warren Mack told The Associated Press. Release of U.S. hikers in Iran delayed; judge on vacation

TEHRAN, Iran – The release of two American hikers jailed in Iran was delayed Sunday because one of the judges whose signature is required on the paperwork is on vacation, the lawyer representing the two men said. The lawyer, Masoud Shafiei, said when he attempted to get the two signatures required for the $1 million bail deal for Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal, he was told one of the judges needed to sign off on the agreement was on vacation, and to return at a later date.
