Redskins’ offense loses Tim Hightower for season and Santana Moss for five to seven weeks

The Redskins’ losses in the locker room are outpacing their woes in the standings, as two more key offensive contributors joined their growing list of injured players Monday. Coach Mike Shanahan said that running back Tim Hightower tore the ACL in his left knee in Sunday’s 33-20 loss at Carolina and will be placed on season-ending injured reserve. Wide receiver Santana Moss should return this season, but he’ll be out five to seven weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his hand, Shanahan said. Read full article > >

Washington Redskins rookie wide receivers compete for few roster spots

Once again, Leonard Hankerson was among the last players off the practice field at Redskins Park. While teammates walked toward the locker room, the rookie wide receiver made a beeline toward the Jugs machine and waited his turn. On Wednesday, he caught 60 balls after practice, each spit out of the machine like a leather rocket. Teenager suspended from Fairfax County school over acne drug

Hayley Russell was 13 and worried about another acne flare-up when she brought an orange prescription bottle to Rachel Carson Middle School in Fairfax County. She placed the medication on the top shelf of her locker so she could retrieve an antibiotic pill to take at lunch.
