‘Smash’ review: All that jazz is sometimes worth it

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

Yea, though NBC walks through the valley of the shadow of death, all hope is not lost. “Smash,” the network’s easily engaging new Monday night drama about the making of a Broadway musical, turns out to be quite the little sunbeam. Sunday, December 11th, 2011

When the Washington Redskins choose their first-round draft pick next spring, it’s a decision that will be several months in the making. It will be a pick that could vault the team back into contention in the NFC East. Or, if the Redskins try and again fail to land a franchise quarterback, it could set the team back several years. Rick Perry’s campaign team, undaunted by plunge in polls, readies phase two

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

AUSTIN For cheap symbolism, Rick Perry’s campaign headquarters a few blocks south of the state capitol offers everything one could hope for, from front doors that construction workers were upgrading Friday to the old bank vault that houses two of the Texas governor’s most senior advisers. The doors might symbolize a presidential campaign still in the making , barely two months old but already seen by its critics as needing a makeover. To Perry’s supporters, the old concrete vault could represent one of the campaign’s biggest assets, the $17 million Perry brought in during his first 49 days as a candidate. To his doubters, the vault could be seen as evidence of a campaign that has fallen short of early expectations and is already operating from a bunker. Read full article > >

Anthony Hopkins May Play Alfred Hitchcock

Monday, January 24th, 2011

He’s one of the most iconic (and secretive) filmmakers of all time, and it seems Hollywood is finally ready to tell his story. A few different Alfred Hitchcock biopics are in different stages of being planned right now, but it seems one is beginning to pull ahead and build up steam. Recently, director Sacha Gervasi (Anvil) was brought on to adapt the book, “Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho” into a full-length feature, and early buzz has it that Anthony Hopkins is interested in playing Hitchcock. In case you couldn’t guess from the title of the book, the film will focus on the making of Psycho, and the relationship Hitchcock had with his wife, Elma. Hopkins is a great choice for an older Hitchcock, and we’re already anticipating hearing the actor’s take… Read More Read Comments

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

On one level, the BP oil disaster was the product of a defective blowout preventer. But on another, it was 20 years in the making. It all started in the wake of the Exxon-Valdez spill in 1989 when Shell announced it had struck oil in the Gulf of…
