NEW YORK — Starbucks said Tuesday it is raising some prices regionally as it faces rising ingredient costs. The Seattle coffee chain is raising prices about 1 percent in the Northeast and Sunbelt regions. Starbucks wouldn’t disclose all of the states its raising prices, but the regions include New York; Washington, D.C.; and most Southern states. They exclude California and Florida. Two men were shot to death Saturday in the District, closing an unusually deadly week on the city’s streets. Just before 4 a.m. Saturday, police found Domingo Ezirike, 40, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound near the entrance to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in far Northeast Washington. Commander Andrew Solberg, head of the 5th police district, said an automated license plate reader in an officer’s car helped police spot the late-model Cadillac taken in the carjacking. RFK Stadium: After 50 years, it’s still personal

RFK Stadium never got the love it deserved. The stadium was in the wrong part of town. (Mine.) It never entirely beat the rap. That didn’t keep it from being, over a lifetime, my favorite structure in Washington. For me, it even tops the Capitol. If you were a kid growing up in Northeast Washington in the ’50s, that is a mountainously high hurdle because, back then, the Capitol grounds were perhaps the biggest, best playground in the world. A woman was fatally stabbed Tuesday afternoon in an alley behind a Northeast Washington recreation center, possibly during a domestic dispute, D.C. police said. Officers were called to the 1200 block of Morse Street and found a 42-year-old woman with stab wounds near the Joseph H. Cole Recreation Center, just after 3 p.m.officials said. Hurricane Katia weakens to a Category 3 storm with 125 mph winds as it crosses the Atlantic

MIAMI — Hurricane Katia has weakened to a Category 3 storm as it moves across the Atlantic Ocean after briefly becoming a Category 4 system. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami says Katia’s maximum sustained winds early Tuesday have decreased to near 125 mph (205 kph). The hurricane center says some fluctuation in strength is possible over the next 24 hours followed by slow weakening. Forecast maps show Katia veering to the northeast, away from the U.S. in the coming week, but the hurricane center says large swells from the hurricane could affect the East Coast, Bermuda, the Greater Antilles and parts of the Bahamas over the next few days.
