CORONA DEL MAR, Calif. — If Texas Gov. Rick Perry was looking for a sign that the United States was ready for the “provocative language” about Social Security he offered in Wednesday night’s debate , he quickly found one here. After praising his “inflammatory rhetoric,” the county supervisor who introduced Perry at a Thursday gathering of Orange County Republicans asked those in attendance what they would call Social Security. “Ponzi scheme!” the crowd of hundreds cried out in response, echoing Perry’s term for it. “Ponzi scheme!” Read full article > >

What’s next? Texas is next. This summer, a trio of series hailing from Texas is on the prime-time schedule: CMT’s “Texas Women” and Style’s “Big Rich Texas,” both of which debuted last month, and Bravo’s “Most Eligible Dallas,” premiering Monday night. But if there’s a concept that reality TV has not succeeded at taking advantage of, it’s geography. Slapping city names in front of the names of shows doesn’t make them different from the ones before them. Alas, it turns out that a catty fight in Orange County is the same as a catty fight in Seaside Heights. Read full article > >

THERE MAY NEVER be a better spokesman for closing the gun show loophole than Adam Yahiye Gadahn. A 32-year-old American and convert to Islam, Mr. Gadahn referred to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, as “blessed raids” and called for additional “jihad against America.” He has been on the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists list and faces criminal charges for treason and for providing material support to al-Qaeda. Mr. Gadahn is believed to have left his native Orange County, Calif., for Pakistan, where he has become a multimedia front man for the terrorist organization. Read full article > >
