The Writers Guild of America announced its nominations for best original and adapted movie screenplays this afternoon, giving Oscar prognosticators a sense of the writing nominees that may wind up on Academy Award ballots later this month. Update: Actually, as Scott Feinberg of The Hollywood Reporter notes , many of the Oscar-eligible screenplays did not qualify for WGA consideration due to the Guild’s award guidelines. For example, films like “The Artist” and “Drive” are not eligible because they were not created by WGA members.
