Various types of bulbs that you can buy for your home are: Incandescent bulbs, Compact Fluorescent (CFL) bulbs, Fluorescent bulbs and Halogen bulbs. Here you will get brief idea about all these bulbs.
First of all, we will talk about incandescent bulbs or say standard light bulbs. These bulbs are commonly used by people from long back and are very cheap to purchase. In market, you can easily find them in different colors, sizes and shapes. One biggest drawback of using them is that they consume a lot of electricity in heating the filament present inside these bulbs. When this filament gets properly heated, it causes the bulb to glow.
Compact fluorescent bulbs are the most energy-efficient bulbs available, using about two-thirds less energy than standard incandescent bulbs to provide the same amount of light and lasting up to 10 times as long. CFLs now come in a variety of shapes, styles and light output. Just like regular bulbs, they can be used in standard sockets.
Compact fluorescent bulbs have a tube and ballast containing mercury gas. When current flows from ballast to the gas, invisible ultraviolet light is generated. When this UV light strikes with white coating present inside the bulb, a light is generated out of it. The heat consumption of these bulbs is much less than standard bulbs. Therefore, they are cool and energy efficient.
Standard fluorescent bulbs are very similar to compact fluorescent bulbs. Fluorescent bulbs also help in saving electricity and are very durable but these bulbs can not be fixed in standard sockets. One more disadvantage of using fluorescent bulbs is that you can not get many choices in it. These bulbs are available in linear, circular and U-shape.
Fluorescent bulbs generate light using the same technique as compact fluorescent bulbs do. However, fluorescent bulbs need separate ballast (component that provides and regulates electricity to the bulb).
Halogen bulbs are famous to produce bright and clear light. They are expensive to buy but and very durable. You can get different varieties and styles of bulbs in this category like A-line and reflector style.
Technique of light production in a halogen bulb in quite same as incandescent bulbs but the halogen gas in halogen bulbs let the tungsten to get back on filament after evaporation. This little difference gives a long life to halogen bulbs unlike incandescent bulbs.

Sometimes you notice your kitchen sink or the bathroom sink not able to drain down water as quickly as it is supposed to be. Instead you notice a certain rise in the water level complemented by a foul smell occupying the spaces of your home.
Once no potential problem is detected in the sink trap or the drain pipe then the attention shifts to the plumbing vents.
A vent is a plumbing component that makes way for the escape of waste gases and sewer gases produced by the said waste. Vents work in collaboration with the sink traps and the drainage system such that the waste gases don’t enter into the building and are expelled properly.
Vents are commonly installed on the roofs with a metal/plastic pipe of about 1 or 2 feet rising above the roof surface. They have a diameter of about 3-4 inches and are visible from a distance even.
Kick off the campaign by apprehending the site and analyzing possible ways to reach the vent. Don’t forget that if the roof is wet and saturated then the task may have certain degree of risk involved with it. Consult a contractor to take his opinion on how to reach out to the top without exerting a good weight on the roof.
Take the help of a ladder and extend it to the top of the roof. Make sure that the ladder is inclined well to the roof. Use a roof ladder to place it between the ridge and the access ladder’s dead end. This would allow you to work safely and also would eliminate any possibility of a roof damage.
Once you’ve reached the vent put the beam of a torch into the vent to locate any clog. Insert a long bamboo stick or a rigid metal rod to break apart any clog in the form of debris, leaves and other foreign materials. A deeper clog however has to be eliminated by a hose pipe. The force of the water would drain down any such clog into the drainage.
If that doesn’t work either then the hose pipe can be inserted into the vent easing the path for the water flow.
