PARIS — A fire early Wednesday caused serious damages at the headquarters of a satiric French newspaper that “invited” the Prophet Muhammad as a guest editor this week. A police official said the fire broke out overnight at the offices of Charlie Hebdo, and the cause remains unclear. No injuries were reported. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), a police official said Friday night. The New Castle County police “were made aware of an alleged contact between Congressman Anthony Weiner and an area teen,” department spokeswoman Officer Tracey Duffy told the Associated Press. “The teen has been interviewed and disclosed no information regarding any criminal activity.” Read full article > >

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenyan Olympic marathon champion Sammy Wanjiru died in a fall from a balcony after a domestic dispute involving his wife and another woman, police said Monday. One police official said Wanjiru committed suicide, while another said he jumped to stop his wife from leaving the house after she discovered him with another woman. The 24-year-old runner died late Sunday after jumping from a balcony at his home in the town of Nyahururu, in the Rift Valley, said John Mbijiwe, the police chief in Kenya’s Central Province. QUETTA, Pakistan — Assailants using rockets and guns attacked a group of people exercising at an open soccer field in southwestern Pakistan on Friday, killing six of them and wounding 13, police said. Senior police official Hamid Shakil said the attackers fled quickly toward the nearby mountains after the attack on the outskirts Quetta, which is the capital of southwestern Pakistan’s impoverished Baluchistan province.
