Thursday, December 15th, 2011WASHINGTON — The average rate on the 30-year fixed mortgage has dropped to 3.94 percent, the record low set in October. Low rates offer a historic opportunity for those who can afford to buy or refinance. Still, many people either can’t take advantage of the record-low rates or have already done so. The rate on the 30-year home loan fell from 3.99 percent the previous week, Freddie Mac said Thursday. This week’s 3.94 percent average matches the lowest on records dating to the 1950s. Wednesday, October 12th, 2011American Crossroads, the largest of a new generation of political interest groups, is seeking to use a loophole in campaign laws to do something that has occupied a gray area of election law: produce advertisements featuring federal candidates and officeholders. That would be a step that Crossroads and other “super PACs” have not taken so far. But the conservative Crossroads says it is just following a precedent set by the Democratic Party, which has spent at least a half-million dollars in recent months on ads featuring Sen.
