An unusual week for Howard University athletics concluded Friday when the school reinstated all of the student-athletes it had ruled ineligible a week earlier. Tim Hightower out for the year with ACL tear

Washington Redskins running back Tim Hightower will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee, Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday. Hightower, who started five of six games this season and leads the Redskins with 321 rushing yards and a touchdown on 84 carries, suffered the injury in the third quarter of Washington’s 33-20 loss to the Carolina Panthers Sunday. Wonkbook: Budget negotiations breaking down

April 8th. That’s the deadline for Republicans and Democrats to reach a deal on funding for the remainder of 2011. No deal? Then the government shuts down. And if I were a betting man, that’s where my money would be right now.
