Reese Witherspoon was hit by a car Wednesday while jogging in Santa Monica, Cailf, the Associated Press reports. The “ Water for Elephants ” actress was struck by a car traveling at about 20 mph while she jogged in an unmarked crosswalk. The driver, an 84-year-old woman, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The Oscar winner was treated at a local hospital and released. A report presented at a planning commission meeting in Santa Monica, Calif., on Tuesday had plans for something that, at first, seems unspectacular — the construction of a “one-story 8,084 square foot commercial building with 75 feet of street frontage.” But while the applicant on the report is listed as ASB/Blatteis Promenade Holdings, the plans included something that looks an awful lot like an Apple store. Lindsay Lohan is now confined to her Venice, Calif., home. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lohan , 24, arrived at the Lynwood Jail around 5 a.m., where she was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet and then sent home. L.A. sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore confirmed Lohan’s house arrest to People . Lohan’s lawyer Shawn Holley previously entered a no-contest plea on behalf of the actress for a misdemeanor grand theft charge related to Lohan’s alleged theft of a necklace from a Santa Monica jewelry store. A judge ordered Lohan to seek psychological counseling and remain on probation in response to the plea. The soon-to-be-costar of “ Gotti: Three Generations ” is on house arrest because a judge previously ruled that Lohan’s alleged involvement in the theft case was a violation of her probation in a 2007 DUI case.
