HBO releases first trailer for ‘Game Change’; stars Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Ed Harris as John McCain (Video)

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

“I’ll just grit my teeth and bear whatever comes,” former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin told Fox News’s Sean Hannity back in March about HBO’s upcoming flick detailing Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign, in which Palin will be played by Julianne Moore. Well, on Wednesday, the teeth-gritting began: HBO sent out a video tease that offered a very quick look at Moore’s chameleon-like performance in “Game Change,” based on book of same name, which the pay cable network will debut in March. Perry, Cain and a parade of painful moments

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

As the GOP candidates have been thrashing it out in debates that seem to occur every couple of hours or so, one almost misses the iconic wink that enraged or beguiled the nation a political season ago. Admit it. You miss Sarah Palin just a little: The wink, the red shoes, the pointing finger, the heck-with-ya attitude and, given the performance of some of her Republican colleagues, her Taser-like intelligence. What is Sarah Palin’s next act?

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Sarah Palin has always played by her own rules in politics, but with the announcement Wednesday that she will not run for president in 2012, the former Alaska governor was for once bowing to the obvious. Palin had kept open the possibility of running until it was almost too late to start. By the time it came, Palin’s announcement was an anti-climax. The possible candidacy of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had generated far more interest and attention than musings about Palin. What a change for a politician whose every move or utterance has commanded maximum attention by the media. Sarah Palin says she won’t run for president, ending months of speculation

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin ended her months-long flirtation with a presidential bid Wednesday, announcing in a letter to supporters that she will use her influence next year to help elect Republicans from statehouses to the White House. Palin’s announcement, which also cited the needs of her family, ends nearly a year’s worth of media speculation about her political aspirations that she fueled with regular public comments and posts on Twitter and Facebook — and with a high-profile bus tour over the summer that included stops in key early-voting states. ‘The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin,’ by Joe McGinniss

Friday, September 16th, 2011

In an America where a whopping 66 percent of adults hold an unfavorable view of 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin (according to a recent Bloomberg poll), author Joe McGinniss has done something truly remarkable. He actually makes the short-serving former Alaska governor and widely panned reality TV star a slightly more sympathetic character, at least for the regrettable time one wastes reading “The Rogue,” his sketchily sourced compendium of low blows and inconsistent accusations. Alexandra Petri: About that Sarah Palin and Glen Rice one-night stand

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

I don’t believe the In 1987 Sarah Palin Had A One-Night Stand With NBA Star-to-Be Glen Rice story that the National Enquirer and the new Palin book by Joe McGinniss are promoting. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the past three years, it’s that Sarah Palin Doesn’t Like Rice. (If you want more jokes, especially jokes that have Mann Act attitudes towards what the Enquirer called a “ steamy, interracial hookup ,” just go on Twitter, where they will oblige you in sickening spades.) In ‘Doonesbury,’ Palin biography ‘The Rogue’ gets a comic-strip tease

Monday, September 12th, 2011

It all started in the summer of 2010, when author Joe McGinniss migrated from Massachusetts to Alaska, to be closer to nature. Human nature, at least, as it plays out on the Sarah Palin homestead. The self-assigned Palin biographer, as you may recall, made headlines by renting a residence in Wasilla and moving in next door to Palin as if moving in on his prey. The former Alaska guv sounded ticked. McGinniss sounded tickled. And much of the public chose sides over all this northern overexposure. Read full article > >

Jennifer Rubin: Ten things you won’t hear at the GOP debate

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

1. From Texas Gov. Rick Perry: “Not just the 16th and 17th Amendments — I want to get rid of a whole bunch of ‘em.” 2. From Mitt Romney: “RomneyCare — what did you expect? It’s Massachusetts , for goodness sakes!” 3. From Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.): “I’d love to have Sarah Palin as my VP!” Read full article > >

Sarah Palin, un-trending

Saturday, August 13th, 2011

The latest trend in the media world is “trending.” That is, monitoring what people are buzzing about and directing coverage accordingly. Just as the unspoken sometimes reveals more than the spoken, what’s not trending suggests more than what’s trending. In all the many thousands of words written in the immediate aftermath of the Republican debate in Iowa , two words were scarce: Sarah Palin. But she wasn’t even in Iowa during the debate, you say. Correct. Her “bus tour,” idling since its last attempt to seize national attention, wasn’t due to arrive in Iowa until Friday. Then again, Texas Gov. Rick Perry wasn’t in Iowa either, and his name was everywhere. Some political observers even dubbed him winner of the debate in absentia. Read full article > >

Jennifer Rubin: With Bachmann, Newsweek’s bias uncovered

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011

Rep. Michele Bachmann’s cover shot on Newsweek magazine and the ”Queen of Rage” story therein have resulted in a rarity: Liberal women’s groups are rushing to defend a conservative women. The Daily Caller reports: What to make of all this? For starters, after NOW’s silence during far worse and continual sexism directed at Sarah Palin during the 2008 presidential campaign, the newfound display of fairness by NOW and other groups is refreshing. But, it’s not necessarily sexism, or rather only sexism, at work. As the Daily Caller reporter observes, in addition to a controversial shot of Sarah Palin in her bicycling attire, Newsweek has also put “unflattering” cover shots of Rush Limbaugh and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on the newsstands. Hmm. Now what do all these folks have in common. Oh, my — all Republicans! Read full article > >

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

The Sarah Palin emails have lacked any big revelations so far, but there may be more on the way: The state of Alaska is investigating apparent gaps in the disclosure. For example, the release included just five emails from Palin’s first month in…
