$35 Million Given To Haiti Through Mobile Fundraising

The Mobile Giving Foundation , which processes donations sent via text message, says that over $35 million has been raised for recovery in the three weeks since an earthquake caused catastrophic damage to Haiti on January 12. The most popular of these numbers, texting HAITI to 90999, raised $10 million for the Red Cross in just the first week after the earthquake

Consumer Spending, Personal Incomes Rise In December

WASHINGTON — Personal incomes rose more than expected in December and consumer spending increased for the third straight month, helping the economy slowly recover from the worst recession in decades. The Commerce Department said Monday that incomes rose by 0.4 percent, the sixth increase in a row. That’s slightly better than analysts’ expectations of 0.3 percent growth.

SAN DIEGO — Phil Mickelson hinted at legal action Saturday for being accused of “cheating,” saying that if the PGA Tour did not do something about him being “publicly slandered,” then he would let others handle it. Mickelson didn’t mention Scott McCarron by name in a series of interviews after his third round at Torrey Pines. McCarron was quoted in The San Francisco Chronicle on Friday as saying about Mickelson using the Ping-Eye 2 wedges with square grooves, “It’s cheating, and I’m appalled Phil has put it in play.” The USGA has a new rule this year that irons have V-shaped grooves
