Let’s say you are a devoted fan of Kurt Vonnegut ’s books, love the sardonic comeuppance stories of John Collier and Roald Dahl , own all of Edward Gorey ’s little albums and enjoy watching reruns of “The Twilight Zone.” Where else can you find similar instances of sly, macabre wit, of such black-humored, gin-and-tonic fizziness in storytelling? The love for “Twilight” knows no box office bounds. For the third consecutive week, “ The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 ” is the No. 1 movie in America, keeping “ The Muppets ” at bay in second place, the same spot the Jason-Segel -meets-Miss-Piggy movie occupied last weekend. Is there any stopping those baby-conceiving vampires? And does Kermit the Frog’s inability to top the box office mean the Muppets revival is officially on hold? Read full article > >

Governing, Thomas Jefferson once wrote, is a painful and thankless office. It’s an eternally stage-worthy one, though. Historic leaders and politicians are popping up in D.C. area plays: President Andrew Jackson, former Texas governor Ann Richards, England’s King Charles II, even Rasputin, the mystic who was a behind-the-scenes player in the twilight of Imperial Russia. All of these figures will have appeared in incarnations ranging from the straight-laced to the satirical by the end of the 2011-2012 season. Read full article > >

In the twilight of America’s decade-long, multibillion-dollar intervention, Afghanistan remains highly unstable, the Pakistanis trust us less than ever, and it is not at all clear how “the big things are going to turn out.”

It’s not a new image of Taylor Lautner or some other member of the cast, but Summit has released something for Twilight fans today in the form of the title graphic for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1. A little no frills, we know, but at least it gives Twi-hards something to throw on their desktops and fit into their personalized counters counting down till the film’s November 18th, 2011 release date.

Wondering what Robert Pattinson plans to do once the Twilight series of films are over? No, he’s not planning on moving to Forks, Washington and officially changing his name to Edward Cullen (though fans would lose it if he did that). Instead, he’s eying a various amount of interesting roles with some pretty top notch directors. Unlike Taylor Lautner, who seems to be making a move toward action movies, Pattinson wants to settle down with some meaty dramas having already filmed Bel Ami and Water for Elephants in between Twilight movies. Now, according to Deadline, Pattinson has snagged the lead role in Cosmopolis, a big-screen adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel that will be directed by David Cronenberg. It’s a big role for Pattinson – perhaps his biggest yet, not including… Read More Read Comments

Over the weekend, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon decided to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving by unveiling the first image from the much-anticipated two-part Twilight finale via Twitter. Was it a shot of Bella and Edward embracing? Not exactly. Instead, the image shows a female arm spread across what looks like a white sheet as feathers dance across her skin, as well as the fabric. Sure, it’s an odd image for those not familiar with Twilight, but you Twi-hards out there should know exactly what this image has to do with the overall story. In Breaking Dawn, Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) finally decide to “do the deed” (so to speak), and it turns out to be such a freakishly passionate night (I mean, sex with a vampire – c’mon!)… Read More Read Comments
