Alerts on overages coming to a cellphone near you

The wireless industry announced Monday plans to alert customers who are about to go over limits for voice, text and data services or incur international roaming fees, a move that will for now stave off regulation of their billing practices. Under the plan, which will go into full effect April 17, 2013, nearly all cellphone customers will automatically begin to receive alerts for free, trade group CTIA announced at a news conference on Monday. The Times Announces Digital Subscription Plan

Under the plan, which begins on March 28, visitors to NYTimes.com will be able to read 20 articles a month free. The most frequent users will pay $15 for a four-week subscription; print subscribers will have unlimited access.

U.S. Proposes Benchmark for Limiting Trade Imbalances
