Casey adopted Ava-Monroe (named after her idol Marilyn Monroe) from Kazakhstan in 2007. Last year Casey’s mother, Sale, took custody of Ava when she became concerned over the little girl’s safety.

Dow Off 133 on Rate Fears

El Salvador Floods: 91 Dead After Mudslides, Flooding

VERAPAZ, El Salvador — Civil defense officials in El Salvador have raised the death toll from rain-triggered floods and mudslides to 124, with another 60 people missing. Government Minister Humberto Centeno, who heads the Civil Protection agency, says the rising toll and President Mauricio Funes’ declaration of a national emergency “changes the panorama” and means state officials will take a greater role in rescue and recovery efforts. The government’s previous toll had been 91 dead and 60 missing, with 7,000 homes damaged.

New Frontier Bank Auction Yields Fraction Of Former Value

DENVER — An auction last month of loans from the failed New Frontier Bank generated $157 million on a portfolio once valued at more than $500 million, according to government records. The federal government salvaged 27 cents on the dollar in the auction, underscoring the poor quality of agriculture loans that were stranded when the Greeley bank failed in April, The Denver Post reported Tuesday. One package of notes valued at $5 million sold for $122,778 – or 2 percent of its values, the newspaper reported
